The CPA is an independent special court which, on appeal, reviews decisions by the Patent and Registration Office, in matters of patents, trademarks, designs, personal names and authorisations to publish periodicals, as well as decisions by the Board of Agriculture in matters of plant varieties. Decisions by the CPA may be appealed to the Supreme Administrative Court, and considered by said court if review dispensation is granted.

The CPA is located in Stockholm at Karlavägen 108 in one of the buildings erected in the 1960´s. It´s located next to the building complex from the late nineteenth century for the now moved Svea and Göta Royal Guard Regiments.
